What's Up Youth is a not-for-profit youth-led portal (www.wupy.org) created on September 20,2008. Through its interactive, easy for navigation & user friendly portal (www.wupy.org) WupY displays and updates regularly an important amount of information helping youth to maximize their potentials, develop their communities, cross borders and create global alliances.

BACKGROUND

ICTs turned today's world into one big community. This openness allowed global partnerships to blossom and easier Youth mobility opportunities to spread. The WupY team of youth activists and thought leaders, acknowledged the importance of offering young people around the world a valuable, global guide of opportunities and valid information targeting today's young people.

Therefore, WUPY presents itself as a bridge between promising, active youth and the opportunities these youth may need to further their knowledge & capacities and fulfill their dreams.

We have also chosen precisely the Internet and the Web 2.0 technologies to be our mean of communication with the young activists, talents & entrepreneurs as nowadays youth mostly use new information and communication technologies to search for resources and establish contacts & networks worldwide.

OUR SERVICES

The WupY dynamics can be summarized as following: collecting a maximum of useful and valid youth-oriented information on opportunities, events, active groups, funders, and resources, and displaying it through one free and accessible international portal.

Our first service is therefore, updating opportunities & calls regularly, presenting descriptions, deadlines, external links and downloadable forms of each event. Opportunities which may concern youth are as following: scholarships, fellowships, Internships, grants, funding, workshops, conferences, forums, competitions, prizes etc.

WupY also provides its visitors & subscribers with a detailed event agenda & a monthly e-newsletter.

Our second service is a rich database of involved youth groups (NGOs, Clubs, &Movements) to help youth in networking and learning from the best practices of other youth around the world.

Thirdly, and because youth dreams need to be supported and funded WUPY suggests a growing list of national, regional, and international funders interested and involved in community development &  youth work.

Sometimes, youth may need more than funds to succeed. They need technical knowledge and practical skills to achieve their objectives, explore new horizons, or to build new capacities.

WupY thought about that, and offers a variety of resources for youth through its portal, by providing online downloadable tool-kits, manuals and diverse publications.

The WupY portal is also: a personalized account, up-to-date news, polls on youth issues and more!

Since September 2008 WupY has been a leading website in the promotion of INTERNATIONAL youth events & has a record of visitors & subscribers from ALL OVER THE WORLD & is not limited to its geographical presence (Egypt & MENA).

Our website is therefore credible & accredited mainly for:

1. Displaying a maximum amount of youth opportunities of an international level (not being limited by national or regional events only).

2. Having an important number of our subscribers become MA, PhD Students, Fellows, Interns & leading activists thanks to the information delivered through our website.

3. Having a wide Social Media network, promoting the website's info through Facebook, Twitter etc. Thus making it more accessible to youth to find about upcoming projects, campaigns & grants.

OUR TARGET GROUP – OUR FRIENDS

WupY targets & serves active young people from around the world, from students to young professionals; the age rank of our beneficiaries is between 13 y.o & 35 y.o.

WupY also promotes youth efforts & youth-led projects & NGOs through its section entitled "Who's Doing What?"

WupY had also created a network of thousand of friends, across the world; Youth who have surfed through our portal have often established a direct contact with the WupY administration, some have also become interns & part of the WupY family.

This is the fruit of a hard working team, wanting to connect with active youth & take their hands until they reach success!

OUR MISSION

Working under the UN MDG #8, our mission is to give youth all around the world the three keys to realize their objectives in serving their communities and exploring their inner energies and talents: Information, funds, and skills.

Therefore WupY is a dedicated youth-led team made of 12 Administrative board members & 50 + International young volunteers & Interns. Our team has a great deal of experience in working with and for youth and helping them reach the highest level of self fulfillment.

The WUPY team assures a daily update of the portal content, by collecting through all possible means the useful and trustworthy information and resources which youth may need in their road to success.

WUPY ensures that the information youth gets from our portal is reliable, through a process of verification of the sources and double checking. Our team is also open to answer questions and to guide the visitors or our website for an optimal usage of our services.

OUR OBJECTIVES

1. Working to achieve the UN MDG #8, through building an online active youth network which has a common platform (www.wupy.org) of useful and trustworthy information to use, share & spread.

2. Developing the capacities of youth worldwide, contributing to building their skills and inspiring them to be involved in the process of change & development of their own communities, by collecting a maximum of useful and reliable information youth may need in their activities in one free and accessible portal.

3. Leading a Youth-Work-Resource-Website through assembling a complete and opened database about all the aspects, actors resources related to youth work (from a massive flow of opportunities & events, to a complete database of active organizations, publications, toolkits & useful links).

4. Supporting successful youth & inspiring promising ones, through the publishing of success stories and best practices of other youth groups.
