The United Nations Youth Association of Tunisia Opening Ceremony

The United Nations Youth Association of Tunisia was Saturday night officially announced during a ceremony held in the area of Kantaoui, Hammam Sousse.
The association was created June 30 as established by the decree published on the “Tunisian Gazette,” in its issue 95 dated August 10, 2010.
The event is part of the Tunisian Youth’s participation in activities of the International Year of Youth launched August 12 under the motto “Dialogue and Mutual Understanding” in implementation of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali’s initiative and as unanimously approved of by the UN General Assembly on Dec 18, 2009.
Endowed with a cultural status, the association will contribute to popularizing activities and role of the UN structures and institutions particularly among youth. The association will inexorably offer a framework likely to further raise Tunisian people’s awareness of the current world challenges and highlight the President of the Republic’s initiatives in favor of the nation’s youth, together with the country’s intellectual and institutional contributions in this field.
The association also plans further anchoring dialogue between civilizations and cultures with special focus on Tunisian reformists and talents modernist contributions throughout the national history and the youth’s degree of maturity thanks to the advanced educational system and patriotic sense while remaining open on universal values and knowledge.
In the presence of the association’s chairman Walid Mhiri, was projected the televised address delivered by President Ben Ali at the launch of the International Year of Youth.
Then, young attendees took the floor to express their expectations before addressing a message from Tunisian Youth to the SG of the United Nations.
On the occasion, the association’s activity program was presented, its members were introduced and its website was announced for membership of the group.
