Today, for the International Day of Peace I want to share a personal selfish thought with you. If you’re not Israeli you can either sympathize with me or hate me for it (and if it really touches you, it should be able to feel a little bit of both).
Pumpkin spiced latte
It’s a Starbuck’s original. I’m having it almost every day for the past two weeks. It became part of my routine here and drinking it feels so foreign, exotic. It’s nice to get used to something that you won’t be able to have when you’re back home. In a globalized world where you get the same things everywhere; in the Internet era when you can be on facebook, twitter and skype with your friends and family, and experience the events back home – I hold on to those little differences that weave the sense of actually being in another place.
I’m in Hawaii, carrying out a routine of paradise on earth, and yet I miss home so much. I get to be in a fantasy setting and I find myself longing to just hang out with my dog again in that ugly square near my house in Tel Aviv. The Americans I meet feel lucky to be Americans. They always assume all of us Middle Eastern would rather be Americans too and be away from all of this war crap. I don’t blame them, they got long immigration queues that give them that idea, but I find it hard to explain to them why I can’t really make myself at home anywhere but in my home. Why I love visiting their country and all other countries, but no matter how many years I’ll drink it, that tasty pumpkin spiced latte will never “taste like home” for me.

ألمانيا والتعددية .. في المعبد اليهودي بالكوفية الفلسطينية

ونعود لحلقات “ألمانيا بعيون إسكندراني“. وبعد أن ألمحت لبعض المظاهر والقضايا الإسلامية في ألمانيا – على عجالة – أظن أنه من المناسب أن أعطف بملامح للتعددية التي رأيناها وعشناها خلال فترة التبادل.
لم نقضِ فترة 17 يوماً وليلة مع ألمان فقط، بل يكاد الألمان “الأنقياء” يكونون أقلية ضمن من رأيناهم وتحدثنا معهم. كما تنوعت مظاهر التعددية التي أعجبنا بها بين عرقية ودينية وثقافية. وفي الحقيقة، كنت أعتزم عرض مظاهر كل جانب من هذه الجوانب على حدة، لكني عدلت عن ذلك وقررت أن أشير إلى بعض المواقف والأماكن والأحداث التي طلت علينا التعددية فيها بشكل لم نتعوده في مصر. فإلى طرف من ذلك ..

Peace
On 21 September 1980 Iraq launched a full-scale invasion of Iran, which was the beginning of an 8-year-long bloody war between the two countries. Ironically the International Day of Peace occurs annually on September 21st. It is dedicated to peace, or specifically the absence of war, such as might be occasioned by a temporary ceasefire in a combat zone. Peace is a nice, positive word as well actions to develop it. While world is now celebrating International Peace Day it is good opportunity to look a bit deeper different aspects of peace, which from my point view can be a frozen conflict at worst and a quality peace at its best. كلمة تسامح
تقدر تقولى يعنى ايه كلمة تسامح
يعنى عمرك ماتكون لاى حد جارح
يعنى لازم تكون سياسى
تاخد وتدى ماتكونش قاسى
صاحبك يغشك تضحك فى وشه
ماتشلش منه فى قلبك ضغينه
قابلك فى شارع تاخده فى حضنك
ويحس انك زى الحبيبه
خسارة فقدان السلام الداخلي
عندما أفكر بالسلام وخصوصا على المستوى الداخلي لا أفكر به كنوع من الرفاة بقدر ما أفكر به كضرورة لا بد من الحياة بها .
وعن نفسي عندما أحاول أن أعرف ما الذي حدث لي بسبب وجود هذا السلام بداخلي أكتشف كم ارهقنى هذا على مستوى الروح والجسد .
فعلى مستوى الروح كنت وما زلت مشدودا إلى أجواء مشاحنات تمنعني من العمل بشكل جيد وهذا ما دفعني إلى عدم الاستفادة من كم الخبرات والعلاقات التي أكتسبها يوميا لان السلام غالبا لا يكون موجود بيني وبين فريق العمل الذي اتزعمة أو بيني وبين فريق العمل الذي أكون ضمن أعضائه .
وقله وجود السلام بداخلي ودفعت بجسدي إلى التضايق من العصبية المفرطة والمستمرة وهاأنا أدخل عامي الثالث بمرض الصدفية الجلدية التي ينصحني الأطباء الذين زرتهم بأن العلاج غير مفيدا في ظل العصبية و الإرهاق النفسي للداخل وارتباط هذا المرض بشكل كبير بالوضع النفسي كما يقولون . Read the rest of this entry »
