Prevent Air Pollution Initiative "PAP Initiative"

Background:

We believe that there is a window of opportunity for avoiding the most damaging climate change impacts, but that window is closing; we are running out of time. Actions taken—or not taken—in the years ahead will have a profound impact on the future course of human development. The world lacks neither the financial resources nor the technological capabilities to act. What is missing is a sense of urgency, human solidarity and collective interest.

Vision:

In a world of common problems, individuals, organizations and policy makers are all involved in shaping the future of humanity. There are various responsibilities to be done: Awareness, changing policies and reforestation. Our project will achieve simple awareness to youth around the world and make them participate in preventing air pollution, and consequently climate change, through planting campaigns and changing of the local policies dealing with restrictions on air pollution.

We started in Alexandria, Egypt in 2007 with the vision of Establishing Connections among individuals, organizations and policy makers around the world to help solve the problem of air pollution

Main objectives:

* Increasing the environmental awareness internationally

* Triggering youth join us in planting trees around Egypt.

Target audience:

* Policy-makers: Governments and Authorities legislating environmental laws.

* Organizations: Non-Governmental Organizations and international entities working on air pollution and climate change.

Achievements:

* PAP project has won the first place in the Arab Environmental Youth Convention, Climate change theme – Bibliotheca Alexandrina 2007
