I have been involved in volunteering and youth work since about nine years, and my commitment to civil society activism was triggered after my participation in the Hugh O’Brian Youth World leadership Congress (HOBY WLC) in Washington DC that charged me with determination to cause a change in my society.
I have attended several courses and trainings on volunteerism, and I am now a free-lance trainer on Basics of volunteerism and how to plan and implement a project, non formal human rights education, and I have worked on several projects related to human rights. I am also a board member in the Association for Volunteer Services and a member in the core strategic team of the Volunteer Center of Hariri Foundation.
I am a member in the youth empowerment council that organizes Global Youth Service Days in Lebanon since 2009. Moreover, I have participated in various national, regional, and international trainings, conferences, and forums related to youth and human rights.. I was a member in the Global Changemakers-Lebanon with the British Council where we did non formal workshops on active citizenship in different schools in Lebanon. I have attended several forums related to youth empowerment and youth policies such as The League of Arab States Arab Youth Forum 2011 in Sharm Sheikh, Egypt (2011), 5th Youth Arab Forum and 7th Arab Reform Forum that was organized in Alexandrina Bibliotheca, Alexandria-Egypt(2010), Young Arab Leaders Forum (YAL) in 2009, and the Conference “Initiatives in Education, Science, and Culture Towards Enhanced US-Muslim Countries Collaborations” that was held in Alexandrina Bibliotheca, Alexandria-Egypt(2010).
I am a coordinator of volunteers in the Human Rights Center in Beirut Arab University (HRC-BAU) since its establishment in 2009, and have been recently a project coordinator for several projects of HRC. I am representing HRC-BAU in the Euro–Arab training course for cooperation youth projects through non formal learning that is organized by the Directorate of Youth and Sport of the Council of Europe and the League of Arab States. This course has started with a Residential Seminar in the European Youth Centre, Strasbourg, France in December 2010, and in the meantime I have been implementing my Euro-Arab youth project before the second residential seminar in November 2011.
